What I did this weekend:
- Drove 300 miles
- Slept in three different beds
- Loaded/unloaded bags, books and breathing equipment into our car nine times
- Spoke at three events
- Hugged countless beautiful necks
- Wore one sparkly dress
- Stood on some really sacred ground
Here’s the pictorial proof (click on photos to enlarge them)!
If you’ve read the book, you’ll understand why this sign (made for me by the awesome ladies at Sherwood Presbyterian Church) makes me feel weepy every time I lay eyes on it.
Me and my handsome, ready for the ALS Gala.
Steve and two of his beauties, Tess and Victoria.
The amazing Brian & Jennie Epp. Brian fights ALS, Jennie is fighting cancer while they’re raising amazing young boys. Brave, brilliant people and I am proud to call them friends.
Also amazing? Team Kyte. So blessed to stand beside them on the battlefield.
These girls? Make my life work. That’s all.
Diseases need doctors, yes, but they also need storytellers. So blessed to be one.
More heroes. Laura & Akhil Jhaveri. You can read about their journey with ALS here.
There’s no one in the world I’d rather spend an evening with than this guy.
Finally, can I just toss in a picture that was emailed to me this week and it made me laugh right out loud at the end of a really long day:
This is Lincoln and he knows he’s gonna face some battles in his life and he will be ready!
That’s it for Monday – Hope it’s a happy one!
Bo
P.S.: I’ll be doing a live web cast tomorrow and I’d love to have you pull up a chair and join the party. We’ll be giving away all kinds of sweet swag, including an iPad mini. RSVP right here.

Bo, thank you for blessing us with your beautiful presence, your strong and encouraging message, and your humor. Steve – thank you for sharing her with us – you do indeed have a generous heart!
Bo, I am glad someone got a picture of the shoes!
Thank you for sharing the weekend with us in pictures. What a great organization to give back to.
This will sound silly, but I think you will know what I mean…ALS and all of us in the ALS community are “lucky” (and by that I mean blessed) to have your energy, eloquence, your knowledge your devotion in our corner! Thank you for your precious talents and time working to stand up for so many!
I am not in the ALS community, I have a community of my own, but through a dear friend, we have attended the gala for several years now. And you are a great storyteller. I was so excited to see you and I was not disappointed. I just wanted to tell you that. And your post on being the “healthy one” continues to reverberate in my heart. Thank you for speaking for the whole family. I am so sorry about what is happening now and what is coming soon.
Great pictures! You look so truly happy amidst a huge battle. You are an inspiration!
