I’ve heard it so many times in songs and shows and facebook status updates: “I’m just looking for someone who will love me exactly as I am.”
Don’t yell at me yet – I’ll concede that this one is partially true.
We all want to be with someone who makes us feel good in our own skin. But the very best thing I’ve received from marriage is the challenge to become more. Steve believes in me, encourages me and sometimes even pushes me to be better, stronger, kinder and braver. He loved who I was when we met, but he’s helped me refuse to settle into a frayed or faded version of myself and I hope I’ve done the same for him.
I never want to get so enamored with who I’ve become that I surround myself with people who let me stay that way forever.
Comments are open. You can yell at me now if you want to.
