Tomorrow, our church will launch a seven-day fast appropriately labeled Seven. I am so excited/nervous about how this will go because I am not, by nature, a happy faster.

I am a whiner.

But I believe in the power of this. I believe miracles are created when we make a space for God to move.

I am praying about so many things right now. Big things. Bigger things, in fact, than I ever imagined I would pray about. So I am viewing this time as a gift. It’s the chance to pursue the presence of God with those I love the most, knowing there is much treasure to be gathered as we go.

Isn’t the fast I choose to break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry? THEN your light will appear like the dawn, and your recovery will come quickly. Isaiah 58

I’ve never done a seven-day fast before, so my plan is to blog my way through it. I’d love for you to join me (on the blog journey OR, if you’re feeling really fancy, on the actual fast.) As always, honesty is my policy, so prepare your heart for a fair amount of whining. Won’t this be fun?

Ready to be hungry,

Bo

  1. you can do it, Bo!!! Although, I’ve only done one dayers, so I shouldn’t speak. It does amaze me when my stomach growls, if I think of Jesus and how He suffered, my growls become nothing. So many amazing things happen with fasting… like Steve being home and with you!!!! πŸ˜‰

  2. THANKS . I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR POSTING OF YOUR MOST SINCERE AND HONEST INNER THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. WE MUST CONSUME GOD’S WORD AND STAND ON HIS WORD AS OUR STEAFAST/UNMOVEABLE FOUNDATION..

  3. We have Isaiah 58 up on our big wipe board right now with several people we are praying for involved in huge battles. Steve is at the top of the list!
It’s been a long time since I’ve fasted seven or longer, so I am nervous as well, but super excited to see what God does though as we do this thing together, asking Him for miracles, healing, kingdom advancement in our church, city and lives!
We are going to need your words, Bo, so blog away!
    Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, β€œIt is written: β€˜Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
    Hungry for Him!
    Love you, dear one,
    Jill

  5. I just realized that the dinner we are preparing for your family tonight is the last before the fast…oh my, now that’s pressure! lol

  6. Oh.. i am so thankful you will be blogging and hopefully we can whine together…ha..ha.. i am headed to my sons to babysit two littles for a couple of days.. so am hoping to be so busy, i won’t be hungry..it will be a challenge for sure, but excited to hear Gods voice..

  7. I’ll be joining in. I haven’t fasted for ages, but looking forward to doing it with Westside. Excited to see what God will do in the lives of Westsiders and Bend. Ready to see the release of God’s power.

  8. I’m totally in. And I’m anticipating the tangible presence of God in my life, in my home, in my worship and prayers and devotions and everyday living. Tall order, but I figure that’s equal with how hungry I’ll be. πŸ™‚
