  1. Wow Bo…if people don’t get sparked to make a difference after that video I don’t know what would get them going! Have a blessed weekend 🙂

I am so grateful that there is a website that gives us the facts – no sugar coated nonsense or commercials, but the clear reality of what is going on in our world. BBCNews is, in my opiion (and perhaps being a Brit I am biased) one of the best there is.

I was crying by the end of that movie, and if that moves me as it did, I can’t imagine how much God’s heart is crying for those kids. It is not OK that kids are living with no hope, no joy, little prospects, working 12 hours a day for potential wages if they do what they are told and gather the impossible in a day.It has prompted me to continually be uncomfortable and convicted about what goes on in our greater world.

In response to your comments about the debate last night, I agree about the numbers and statistics. It is the same in the UK when a general election rolls around. All I hear is politician after politician filling us with fear about what the other parties will do; how they will hike our taxes, cap our spending on education and health, make our lives worse if “the other” lands in power. What I would love to hear is a political party who will arrange our public spending so that I will be proud to be a citizen of a country who is known for their stance on social justice, their generosity to those who cannot help themselves, education that includes those who find mainstreaming way too hard, policies that will bring exponentially great and lasting change. I am told that that is not possible, that we live in a time where greed is the Number 1 motivating factor and my dreams and visions for my country and the wider world are just that – dreams. Have we as Christ-followers forgotten that we serve a big God who is able to do far more than all we could ask or imagine? Perhaps. I was reminded that in the Old Testament, the 3 groups of people that God was most concerned with were widows, orphans and aliens. What is our concern in the Pacific NW? Do we think that this is it, that we have it so good how could there be anything better?

Ok, I will stop now. I am very thankful that I found this website…

  3. Elizabeth for President! Seriously – loved your comments, thanks so much for sharing them. It’s oddly comforting to me that the problems are not unique to America…though I hope for change everywhere, in every way.

More conversations in our future, my friend. 🙂 -Bo

  4. Also, I had fun reading your comments and adding your Scottish accent…everything sounds more intelligent and passionate that way!
