My friend, Becky, MADE THIS for her daughter’s Halloween party and it’s just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. And…did I mention she MADE this? From Rice Krispies and fruit leather and stuff. Please, stand back and be amazed:

Do you think my Kitchen Aid could do this for me?

Happy Thursday,

Bo

  1. Alas….I am not crafty that way. But Becky is amazing! (and her kids are super lucky!)

  2. Dear Bo,
I do not know if your Kitchenaid can make a rice krispie scarecrow for you, but I do know what it can’t do….

If you leave your kitchenaid packed in the garage for two years after moving because you are going to remodel your kitchen…then it cannot handle the double batch of pumpkin muffins that you decide, on a whim, to make…in an impossibly small kitchen, on a Saturday afternoon when you should do other things.

I have pumpkin batter everywhere – three mixing bowls, a giant 3 quart glass measuring cup, a few smaller measuring cups, clumps of unmixed baking powder since the poor humble hand mixer can’t reach the bottom of the mess. ugh.

Lesson: leave the double batches to the kitchenaid. And unpack it and let it do it’s job. Surely I can find someplace to store it….

  3. Karen – Oh, I love your advice here. I shall never move my kitchen aid from it’s sacred spot on the counter. Never. Though I must say I’ve often been tempted.

Anne, you are crafty with a volleyball, and that’s important too. 🙂

  4. mostly I’m just hoping that no one ate that masterpiece — partially because then it wouldn’t look cool anymore — but mostly because it was a combination of Rice Krispie Treats, Fruit Leather, and uncooked noodles — that doesn’t sound like a winner of a combo to me

  5. Bo you need one of those mixer lift thingys…I am trying to get one in my new kitchen but the boss keeps saying it will take up too much cabinet space. What a joy to just push a button and your kitchen aid pops up! What color is yours? Mine is candy apple red (prior to all the cool colors they have now)…and I am sorely tempted to design the entire kitchen color scheme around it.

  6. Karen – such a grand idea! What boss do I speak to about installing one of those wonderful inventions? 🙂 Mine is sleek charcoal gray and my love for it is most certainly out of balance, but…it’s just been so good to me. It does, however, take up a LOT of room on my counter.

Kristin, I am ashamed to say that I would happily pick every single bit of uncooked noodle off to get to the rice krispy treat part. I LOVE rice krispy treats almost as much as I love my Kitchen Aid. If I could have a rice krispy treat in the SHAPE of a kitchen aid – that would be just about the perfect day.

  7. You just buy this do-hickey and have it installed. I want one in a big island, however my island is going to have a 36 inch gas cooktop in it.

My dear husband (the boss) the accountant is building all our new cabinets himself. He’s just finished his practice piece – an 8 ft cherry double sink vanity for the bathroom. It’s really lovely. Fun to see him learn a new skill set! So he could build me a cabinet for my mixer if I could get him to get over the loss of cabinet space issue. Oh and I just call him the boss in online forums. The big boss doesn’t install appliances as far as I know.

Your color choice sounds very sophisticated and sleek.

Someone get the scarecrow creator going on the kitchenaid krispy treat…I bet she can do it!

  8. Yeesh…I’m such a techno-not. I tried to – finally – fix the time on my blog and I totally messed it up so it’s showing comments in the wrong order. Sorry, friends…please send help.

  9. I love it, it reminds me of my mind. I have no idea how to fix it.

  10. I think I may have figured this time situation out…and I’m posting this as a very brave test.

  11. Woo-hoo! I have conquered the WordPress time zone demon! Please send flowers or money or something because this is a really big day in my life.
