Well, I don’t know how fall is falling at your house, but here at Casa de Stern, it’s falling hard and fast!  I have known for several weeks that the days of September and October were going to be packed to the gills, and now that we’re in the middle of it, I’m feeling a little dizzy with it all.  One thing on the list, however, is pretty fantastic.

Remember how I told you about Steve’s decision to make memories with our kids this year?  Well, it’s been such a fun and wonderful project – and frankly, it’s also been quite an adventure-in-miracles to see how God enables us to get a lot of awesome things done in a tight time frame.  I hope some day to be able to write a good, long, public thank you note to Him for His generous goodness to my little family…but right now it’s a little fresh and I’m going to have to let it simmer a bit before I can put words to the divine.

This is Josiah’s Dreaming with Dad week and here’s a little hint:

Are you ready for some football?  Yep.  The three best men in my life (my husband, my son and my dad) will get on a plane tomorrow morning at the hour of  Obscenely:Early o’clock and will spend the weekend in the midwest, where they will see the Indianapolis Colts (Josiah’s favorite team in all the world) play the Cleveland Browns.   They will visit Steve’s family and the town that Steve grew up in. They will eat good food and share real time and real words in a world where things can so easily spin into a blur or live forever in the shallows.   It’s going to be an amazing, incredible trip – made possible by the God of grace, who is clearly pretty crazy about my husband and son.

If it’s difficult for you to dream for something lovely in your life, I’m hoping that this post will serve as a reminder:  even in dark and stormy seasons, our good Father sends reasons to celebrate.

Go Colts!

  1. Being a Charger fan, I am not too incredibly excited about the Colts, but I will be rooting for them with all my heart this weekend (and, ok, this season too… short of dealings with the Chargers and their interest) Go Colts! Go Steve! Go Josiah and grandpa!

  2. SO GREAT! THE COLTS ARE MY 17 YR OLD DAUGHTER RYLY’S FAVORITE TEAM IN THE WHOLE WORLD. SO I BELIEVE THIS WOULD BE ONE OF HER DREAM TRIPS!

  4. God’s showers of blessings in the midst of storms are such sweet a reminder of His incredible love and mercy.

Being a Tim Tebow (I’m reading his book now and so love his testimony) and Drew Breese fan I normally root for the Broncos and Saints, but I will cheer for the this weekend and your guys that they have a fantastic time!!
